A Breakfast Spot That Runs Its Own Website From a Phone

Heather's Place, a family-run breakfast and lunch spot in Canton, needed a website that could keep up with a working kitchen. We built the site and a phone app that lets the family change it themselves, with their Clover sales in the same place.

  • 2 taps To mark a dish sold out on the website
  • 15 min How often Clover sales update in the app
  • 0 Passwords to remember, with sign-in by email

What wasn't working

A restaurant's details change all the time: today's special, a dish that sold out, a holiday closing, a new price. If every change means calling a web person, the website falls behind and customers get the wrong information.

The family also had sales in their Clover register, delivery on DoorDash, and email and catering requests to keep up with, all while running the kitchen and the counter.

What we did

  1. Built a Site That Sounds Like the Family

The site tells their story in their own words and features dishes named for the family. It has the full menu, real customer reviews, hours with an open-or-closed line that updates by itself, and a catering request form. All of it works on a phone.

  2. Put the Controls on Their Phones

The app runs from a phone's home screen, and signing in takes an email link or a 6-digit code. From there the family can change the banner, today's special, sold-out dishes, prices, hours, photos, and the words on the site. Changes show on the website right away.

  3. Brought the Numbers Into One Place

We connected the app to Clover, so the family can see sales for any day, top sellers, and busiest hours without opening the register software. Catering requests, business email, the email list, and website stats live in the same app.

What changed

Heather's Place is live on its own domain, heathersplacecanton.com, and the family now has one app for the everyday website changes that would otherwise wait on a web person for all of their menu updates.

Key takeaway

A restaurant's website only stays accurate if it's easy to change. Put the everyday updates in the owners' hands, on the phone they already carry.

Questions people ask

Did the restaurant have to change registers?

No. They kept Clover and ring up orders the same way. The app reads the sales from it.

Does the family need to know how to edit a website?

No. They tap what they want to change in the app, and the website updates right away.

Do they have to install anything from an app store?

No. The app opens in the phone's browser and can be added to the home screen.
